For an illustration exercise, I am drawing the same fictional character with three hair colors while leaving the clothing and face unchanged. The character wears a blue shirt against a muted background, and I want each version to remain readable at a small size. The initial set includes a dark neutral, a warm copper shade, and silver, which should give me three clearly different directions. For background vocabulary, I saved a link from my reading about a personal color test as a starting point for further reading. I would like the terminology to help with critique, while leaving room for the intentional color exaggeration that illustration often uses. The issue is deciding whether the hair supports the face or distracts from it, especially when the picture is reduced in size. What sequence would you suggest for a side by side review, a value check, and a short critique from other students? A clear set of comparison questions would help my classmates explain their choices in terms of the character rather than personal taste alone.
